I built this after my parents visited me in town and they put their suit cases on the floor practically in the middle of the room. The spare bedroom is such that a queen size bed takes up a good portion of space in the room. So to utilize as much space available as I could, I took off the closet doors and installed this bench so they could put their suitcases and other items they need to. I know many hotels have similar stands for suit cases but I find them to be so short that you have to bend over at that in-between state that is a bit uncomfortable to stay in for any length of time. So I made this a little taller so it is at a good level to work out of without needing to bend over so much.
